Migrating to e-book: a study on perceived usefulness and ease of use

The study offers some important practical implications. PEOU and PU are crucial predictors for non-users to form positive attitudes towards e-books. The study also clearly revealed that PU is a more prominent factor of attitude towards using e-books than PEOU. It shows that, PU is more important that PEOU and developers should take this factor into consideration when developing an e-book as an alternative format or learning material. The significant relationship between PEOU and PU shows that ease of use is an important factor in having e-books perceived as useful. Relevant stakeholders such as e-book providers and the library management should conduct seminars to introduce e-books to non-users by explaining their ease of use and usefulness. E-book designers are also suggested to design e-books which are easy to use and manipulate. Based on the result of this study, attitudes towards using e-books was one of the important predictor of intention towards using e-books. We recommend that e-book vendors, publishers and library management need to also work towards creating positive attitudes towards e-books among these potential users to increase the intention of using e-book among the respondents.
