Possible use of T-section columns in RC frame

摘要

The paper presents a comparative study between T-section columns and rectangular columns having the same cross sectional area and steel. The test results are compared with theoretical design values as per the Indian Standard Code. An attempt has been made to observe the strength, crack pattern and load deflection curves for both types of columns under concentric loads, two different eccentric loads along one axis and pure moment condition. The possibility of replacing rectangular columns by T-shaped columns is also explored.
