New Jersey Probe Finds Employees Lied to Get Students Free Meals

More than 100 New Jersey public employees or family members lied to get students free school meals, according to an investigation led by New Jersey Comptroller Matthew Boxer. The investigation found that during a three-year period, 109 individuals claimed lower household incomes on applications for free meals so that their children could receive meals for free or at a reduced price. The amount of unreported income was $13 million.
