Stanford University Establishes Green Energy Research Institute

With an endowment of $100 million, Stanford University has established a new research institute to develop environmentally-friendly energy sources. The Pre-court Institute for Energy will draw on scientific expertise from across the campus and around the world to tackle a variety of research challenges from the smallest scale, such as the development of more efficient photovoltaic cells to extract more electricity from sunshine, to the global search for ways to reduce atmospheric levels of carbon.
