摘要

The rating scales method is a performance appraisal method that ratesemployees according to defined factors. Using this approach, evaluators recordtheir judgments about performance on a scale. The scale includes severalcategories, normally 5–7 in number, defined by adjectives such as outstanding,meets expectations, or needs improvement. Although systems often provide anoverall rating, the method generally allows for the use of more than oneperformance criterion.One reason for the popularity of the rating scales method is its simplicity, whichpermits quick evaluations of many employees. When you quantify the ratings, themethod facilitates comparison of employees’ performances.
