ANNA P. KENNEDY, 1897-1969

Ann Kennedy died in Oakland, California, on March 11, 1969, after a short illness. A graduate of the University of California and of its School of Library Science, Ann never moved far from the San Francisco Bay area. Her first position was as an assistant in the Fresno County Library in Fresno. Next she joined the staff of the Alameda County Library in Oakland. In 1917 the Medical Branch of the County Library was started when the Library cooperated with the County Medical Society to provide library service for the medical profession. Ann was the first professional librarian to assume charge of the Medical Branch Library which resulted from this cooperative effort.
