In the sweets business in Bangkok for over 20 years, Kronkamon Leelateer-aphat andrnthree of her eight brothers and sisters are the country's largest producers of traditional Thai sweets and snacks, turning out an average of 30,000 pieces a day. Largely self-taught, Leela-teeraphat had a tough time locating authentic recipes for her line because even in classes and demonstrations, traditional makers don't like to reveal their "secrets." Recent slimming trends have even motivated her to do a lower calorie line of the goods, but the traditional ones remain.
