SDDC moves first commercial export containers via an Iraqi port

The 840th Deployment Distribution Support Battalion of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command has, for the first time since the beginning of hostilities, successfully moved an export maritime container shipment for the US Marine Corps from a Forward Operating Base (FOB) through an Iraqi port. The entire move was accomplished using commercial trucks with private security in Iraq, delivered to a commercial ocean carrier (American President Lines) and booked to final destination in Albany, Georgia.
