Tate St Ives has shortlisted six firms to design an extension for the gallery in Cornwall, including the scheme's original architect Jamie Fobert. 6a Architects, Amanda Levete Architects, DSDHA, Feilden Clegg Bradley and Tony Fretton Architects were also selected following an Ojeu tender process. Fobert originally won the commission from Cornwall County Council in 2005. Following his appointment the Tate became the client on the project, after receiving the land for the extension as a gift from the council. Fobert was asked to do feasibility studies on six options, before the current location was selected, but earlier this year lost the scheme after the scope of the proj -ect changed. The extension is now planned for a section of land, to the west of the gallery, below the Barnoon car park.
