JACK LONDON: A CAMERA & A JOURNEY

Jack London is an author known primarily for his stories of Alaskan adventures, though his repertoire is far more extensive. During his short lifetime (he died at age 40), London wrote 50 books, including memoirs, travel fiction, social fiction, essays and newspaper articles. Although he is well-known as a writer, few are familiar with his photographs. But London was a prolific photographer whose subject matter includes the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Yosemite, and documentary photographs of his world travels. Many of the subjects he photographed are intriguing, though perhaps his most interesting pictures are those taken for The San Francisco Examiner.
