MATCH POINT AS HMRC BLAMES RTI EMPLOYER ERROR

HMRC claims all is well in the Real Time Information (RTI) world and that its computer programs are operating as intended. This is despite some employers' evidence to the contrary, with debt management teams chasing non-existent debts that are clearly not due. Nevertheless, HMRC says some employers are creating the problems they experience. What is certain is that the time it takes for the Business Tax Dashboard to be updated catches many taxpayers out. Filing is 'real time', processing is not, so differences between employer and HMRC records are inevitable. Checking the list of issues supplied by HMRC as to why the employer's record of PAYE payments does not match HMRC's, might be the first step in trying to reconcile the two.
