UV/EB Coatings with Stable and Controlled Coefficient of Friction

Special slip control packages were developed to effectively control and maintain the desired coefficient of friction (slide angles) of UV/EB coatings. It has not been easy for UV Curable coatings to maintain stable high slide angles over time due to various factors including post-cure phenomena, process variability, ink types and coating weights. UV/EB coatings utilizing these slip control packages have demonstrated their ability to maintain initial high slide angles with wide processing windows. Comparisons with a solvent- based polyamide system, and some first generation UV high slide angle coatings were conducted.
