A trial for Design Automation of Printed Wiring Board Digital system have been applied to various industrial fields with advance of LSI technology. Automated design method for printed wiring board should be developed accordance with this situation. Design systems by using hardware description language may be applicable to design of PWB. But these sytems are considerably expensive and are not easy to use because they require extensive knowledge of language and hardware design. Hence we try to develop a logic synthesis system for PWB based on the recognition of hand-drawn state diagram. This system can be used easily without knowledge and technique for required of hardware design. This system is constituted of 3 parts which 1) recognition of hand-drawn state diagram, 2) logic synthesis, and 3) output of circuit data (net list). Output from this system is applicable to CAD system of PWB design. In this paper, the outline of this system, details of each process are explained. Under the present situation, this system could be applicable only to small scale system less than one thousand gates. Still, it is useful to the advancement of design automation and user friendlyness by preserving data transfer consistency with other systems.
