A straightforward and precise HPLC method for the Quantitative determination of (E)-3-(3-(dimethylamino) propyl)-3-(3-(4-hydroxy-3 methoxyphenyl) acryloyl) dihydrofuran-2(3H)-one tartarate (a potential spermicide) was developed and validated by following the rules of ICH guidelines. HPLC separation was achieved on C-18 column (merk, 250mm, 4.6mm, 5μm) using a mobile phase of composition 85:15 (v/v) (acetonitrile and 0.1% acetic acid in water) at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. Photo diode array detector was used for monitoring eluents at 240 nm. LOD (limit of detection) and LLOQ (lower limit of quantification) were established to be 0.69 μg/mL and 1.95 μg/mL. The method was validated according to the ICH guidelines for linearity, LOD, LOQ (limit of quantification), recovery, precision and accuracy.
