The reaction of 1-(1-hydroxy-2-naphthalenyl)-N, N-bis(3-aminopropyl)methylamine with MgCl_2·6H_2O in CH_3CH_2OH followed by recrystallization in CH_3CH_2OH gave rise to colorless block Mg (II) complex crystal material. The Mg (II) complex has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and molar conductivity. The photoluminescence of the Mg (II) complex material was tested in solid and in solution, the result shows that the complex displays a emission maximum in blue region and that the organic solvents have effect on fluorescence intensity of Mg (II) complex.
