Horisontal and highly deviated wells are always becoming a setback for any well intervention activities. The well trajectory designs have been limiting tool deployment down into the well due to less gravitational force to the tool string. Normally an electric motor driven tractor needs to be attached to the tool string to carry it down to the target depth. An electric wireline unit is required to perform a tractor deployment service for well intervention jobs such as logging, pressure survey etc. This kind of intervention technique is becoming a common approach to deal with the highly deviated well. Recently a battery power based tractor has been in a field trial application for a horizontal well in Sabah Field. The tractor with the battery is attached to the normal Bottom Hole Pressure (BHP) survey toolstring deployed using slickline unit to perform Static Gradient Survey (SGS). This Slickline Well Tractor (SWL) is a newly developed tool by tractor service Provider Company for slickline tool conveyance which is still not available in the market. Apart from performing the routine pressure survey, this slickline job is actually intended to assess the ability of the tractor to push the toolstring down to the highly deviated section (Max 88 degree) for a pre-programmed time whereby normal slickline is unable to pass through. Prior to running in hole the electronic sub attached to the battery is programmed to operate the tractor based on the set timing and the latest held up depth (HUD) encountered. A pressure switch is installed in SWT to trigger the electronic part to execute the command. The tractor then will power up or power down based on pre-set programmed. However a dummy tractor needs to be run as a reference for setting the time and the HUD.
