A new method for the fast identification of savings potentials in FM in healthcare

A great problem not only for facility managers is the evaluation whether the performance is cost efficient or to define where the own organization has its deficits. Benchmarking in this context offers the possibility to detect a deviation regarding a specific parameter. However for an evaluation of tangible savings potentials a second dimension is missing that represents a quantitative valuation. For the immediate evaluation of the cost structure of FM services in hospitals a method is needed, that is capable of demonstrating savings potentials based upon reference values and assess these at the same time. Through this assessment of the potentials the user is enabled to concentrate on the main savings potentials. The outcome of this approach is a graphical analysis of the cost structure for FM in hospitals. The visualization directly shows maximum savings potentials and at the same time gives advice which of these should be made accessible in the first place in a specific hospital.
