Metal-Containing Conjugated Polymers and Oligomers

Conjugated oligomers and polymers are of substantial current interest due to their remarkable optoelectronic properties. Applications in fields such as nanoelectronics, chemosensing or electrostatic coatings are all being explored. In our group, we have focused on conjugated materials modified with metal complexes. Coupling conjugated polymers to metal complexes gives interesting new hybrid materials. Phosphines have been found to be versatile and stable ligating groups, and oligothiophenes are easily modified with these substituents. Oligothiophenes are readily synthesized and easily polymerized chemically and electrochemically.
