摘要

This work was conducted jointly with Jennifer E. Anderson and Anne G. Fisher. We are indebted to Dr. Gary Bickel for support and assistance in designing this project. The underlying purpose of our work has been to determine whether the instrument used to assess household food security in the United States, the Core Food Security Module (CFSM), is a reliable and valid instrument to use in Hawaii, where at least 50 percent of the population is of Asian or Pacific Islander descent. This presentation focuses on our preliminary findings as of February 1999. All our data were collected in Hawaii. The question "Which ethnic group do you identify with most?" was used to assess ethnicity in each study. The ethnic groups of focus were Caucasians, Hawaiians and part-Hawaiians, Filipinos, and Samoans from American Samoa.
