IMPORT AND EXPORT AND RELATED ACTIVITIES OF THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR IMPORT AND EXPORT FY 2006

During the year of 2006 the most impacting accomplishment ot the Animal Export Section of the Americas was the reopening of the live animal ruminant exports to some of the countries of the Americas that had been closed since December 2003. To accomplish this, intensive negotiations were undertaken with a number of countries. These activities included visits to the countries to make presentations about the intensive testing for BSE, sending of BSE surveillance reports, and providing the epidemiological reports of the two indigenous cases of BSE detected in the United States.
