Current training methods, based on personal interaction with skilled staff, prove a hindrance to the adoption of knowledge in the large diverse workforce in the aerospace industry. To reach this workforce, quickly and cost effectively, Internet based computer based training (CBT) has been investigated by the UK Lean Aerospace Initiative1 (UK-LAI). As part of this research it is proposed to develop a prototype CBT tool in co-operation with a defence aerospace organisation. This paper discusses a framework to capture the procedural knowledge using process mapping and to disseminate this through the use of CBT and evaluate effectiveness of learning using an on-line assessment tool.
