On Integrated Computer-Aided Design Environment for Buildings

摘要

Design of high-rise buildings requires the expertise of specialists from different disciplines, e. g. architecture, structural and foundation engineering, and building services. In order to provide better design coordination and efficient data transfer between different disciplines, an integrated computer-aided-design approach using a central database and organized design process is most effective for design. In view of the availability of the Internet and multi-media communication technology, a collaborative design environment is most desirable to form a design team with team members that may be dispersed at different geographical locations. This paper outlines some of the thoughts and future trends regarding this particular application.
