Intellectual property rights and plant variety protection in relation to demands of the world trade organization and farmers in Asia and the Pacific

Intellectual property rights represent a specialized area of law which may be divided into: 1. Industrial property (patents, trade marks, special rights for integrated circuits, plant variety protection, etc); and 2. Literary and artistic property (copyright, rights of performers, etc). Plant variety protection is often excluded from lists of intellectual property categories. It is nevertheless a form of industrial property right.
