Currently diagnostics of marine pipelines represent a significant challenge. The available solutions include: (1) internal pipeline inspection; (2) external inspection (an underwater thickness gauge, an NDT instrument in an underwater container, a combination of a submerged measuring transducer with an NDT instrument on the marine surface). This article describes the structure and operating principles of a semi-automated multichannel scanning system for underwater Ultrasonic Testing (UT) developed by our company. The system enables underwater inspection of welds and bodies of pipelines and other structures at depths up to 60 m. It features an automated fastening and interpretation of inspection results.
