(cest2017_00671) Agroforestry and the CAP: a land use system to be promoted to fulfil Sustainable Development Goals

摘要

Agroforestry understood as the deliberately integration ofwoody vegetation in at least two vertical layers on land,with the bottom layer providing an agricultural product(such crops or forage/pasture which may be consumed byanimals) is gaining popularity in different statements to bepromoted as sustainable land use practice or systemsystem. Main advantages of agroforestry are related withthe better use of the resources, starting by radiation, whichallows to increase productivity while reducing negativeenvironment impacts. Different international organizationsare also pointing out the relevance of agroforestry forclimate mitigation and adaptation. In this paper the mainreasons for considering agroforestry as sustainable land usesystem is discussed under the umbrella of the UnitedNations Sustainable goals.
