Cancer stem cells (CSC), believed to be responsible of tumor development, recurrence and metastasis; characterised by an high resistance to antitumoral drugs (the main reason of tumor relapse in humans) are an actual target in cancer research. Spontaneous feline mammary carcinoma (FMC), an excellent model for human mammary carcinoma, can represent an alternative source of CSC, allowing a wide spectra of comparative investigations. Aim of this work is to describe some results to characterize FMC-CSC,to dispose of a cell population to use in further researches (pharmacological profile).
