Phase I has been successfully completed. Gasification rates were faster than those used for the economic study. Since this means that the equipment can be made smaller than anticipated, the current cost estimate appears to be conservative at this point. Phase II considers the rate of CO_2 absorption using CaO and producing hydrogen in the process. Preparations for these tests are being completed as this paper is being written. Results of the Phase II work will be factored into the Phase II economic analysis.
