EFFICACY ASSESSMENT OF AN EARLY TREATMENT WITH PULMOTIL~R IN THE NURSERY. CLINICAL AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION FROM WEANING TO MARKET

Health is key for efficient grow-finish performance. Without good health, an animal's potential cannot be fully expressed (1). The presence of respiratory disease not only increases mortality and medication costs (2) but also causes a loss of performance (ADG and FCR) since energy and protein is derived towards fighting disease (3 and 4). In this study, the use of Pulmotil~R after weaning was evaluated to proof not only its control over respiratory disease but also to see if this early control was valuable in market pigs and provided more Full Value Pigs ( for the producer. A "full value pig" is every pig that reaches the market at or near the profit maximizing weight.
