摘要

This reflective case study describes teaching and learning on a course in the coursework stage of an international doctoral program in HRD in Thailand. It presents data on student background in English, academic performance and views of the course. It draws on attribution theory and other perspectives to explain student performance and "mis-learning". It suggests how "unreal expectations" about success in doctoral programs may form and the consequent challenge for staff.
