Preparation of Candidate Standard Reference Material (SRM) 2860 Restricted Substances in Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and Measurement of Phthalates by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry

GC/MS measurements of phthalates in the milled PVC sheets suggest that the materials are nominally composed of 0.1 % and 2 % mass fraction of the six phthalates. The presence of DOA and the phthalates do not affect statistically-relevant changes upon the molar mass averages, dispersity (D = Mw/Mn), or distribution of PVC.
