The aim of this work is to gain cognition about the efficiency of different methods for beer line cleaning in order to find the most effective and most economic one. The following methods are examined: mechanical cleaning by using a sponge ball, static caustic cleaning, caustic circulation cleaning, combined caustic and mechanical cleaning. Furthermore, the experiments are carried out for beer lines of different ages, so that an possible influence of aging on the cleanability can be detected. The results show clear differences between the compared cleaning methods, with mechanical cleaning as the worst of the tested ones. Additionally, a strong influence of beer line aging is obvious.
