In most settings, the most frequently encountered brain tumors are metastatic, affecting between 100,000-170,000 people in the United States each year. Depending on the source of information-surgical biopsy, autopsy, or MRI-between 20-40(percent) of patients with cancer will develop brain metastases during the course of their illness.
