The method involves defining a positron emission tomography (PET)-receiving area (4) for a PET measurement, and detecting PET data from the PET-receiving area. A PET-overview image is evaluated from the detected PET data, and the PET-overview image is displayed on a display unit. A computed tomography (CT)-receiving area (5) is defined for a CT measurement based on the PET overview image, and a CT image is evaluated from CT data. A PET image produced by a PET tracer (1) is evaluated based on attenuation characteristics of radiation, and the CT image is displayed with the PET image.
