Living Donor Laparoscopic Hand Assisted Nephrectomy

Background: The hand assisted approach offers the minimally invasive advantages and seems to be superior to complete laparoscopic approach,Methods: In a third level hospital we start doing Laparoscopic Hand Assisted Nephrectomy, the technique and modifications are described.Results: We obtain renal artery and vein with a long suitable for transplant. The operative bleeding and warm ischemia time were shorter than reported for laparoscopic approach,Conclusions: Hand assisted living donor nephrectomy is as safe and effective technique as the pure laparoscopic, very reproducible and with some advantages upon the pure laparoscopic technique.
