An overview is given of existing steady state and transient thermal conductivity measurement techniques. Advantages of an innovative non-intrusive technology using a modified hot wire design are demonstrated with focus on the measurements of liquid samples. A calibration algorithm, allowing direct conductivity measurements is described. Three applications dealing with pigment and solvent content of liquid paints, separation of water and oil mixtures and concentration quantifying of ethanol in water are shown and discussed. The promising test results indicate wide applicability of the new technology described.
