Inductive device for determining the conductivity of a medium, comprises a rod-shaped coil (2) that is connected to a signal generator (4) that applies an excitation signal to it. A detector (5) is connected to the coil to detect a measurement signal that is influenced by the liquid medium (8) with which the coil interacts. The conductivity of the medium is determined from the measurement signal, which depends on the coil loading. The invention also relates to a corresponding sensor head with a rod-shaped coil for immersion in a liquid medium.
