This paper reviews Australia's involvement in reducing road trauma by the Federal Department of Transport and Regional Services in both the domestic and international arena since the 16th ESV in Windsor, Canada. The paper the will focus on the following points: The road toll; National Road Safety Strategy; International Harmonised Research Activities committee; Intelligent Transport Systems; International Harmonisation; New Vehicle Safety Regulations.
