The design optimization of a station air-conditioning system is a great challenge in major mass transit systems. As modern systems are being built, space allocation, equipment sizing, and selection play a key role. Alternatives to be considered include the use of platform screen doors (PSD), standard return systems, over track exhaust (OTE), under platform exhaust (UPE), or a combination of them. This paper presents station air-conditioning performance of standard return systems, OTE, UPE, and a combination of OTEAJPE; PSD were not considered. The analysis was based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling.
