Dissection of EST contributions to Triticeae expression

cDNA libraries of the Triticeae have been surveyed based on their species, cultivar, tissue, development, and conditional attributes and sorted based on their contributions to assembly profiles. Approximately 256 libraries comprising over 780,000 sequences have been assembled into contigs on a species-specific and inter-species level and viewed graphically to display and discover how specific library attributes interact with formed contigs. Subsets of the consensus assemblies have been viewed to compare similarity in expression profiles of libraries of like origin. Similarly, subsets have also been constructed to identify step-wise expression profiles and dissect pooled cDNA libraries. Other specially constructed subsets have assisted in detecting genome-specific expression associated in a polyploid environment. In essence, the graphical environment has been designed to present an overview of an entire dataset and prepare the investigator to poise queries leading to gene discovery and study. Examples of this unique visualization of data will be presented.
