Aim of this study is to investigate the possible role of genetic alterations in the genesis and progression of cervical dysplasia and to determine the clinical significance of genetic alterations. To verify that, we analyzed the aberrations of chromosomes 3,7, X and the status of EGFR(epidermal growth factor receptor) gene by FISH. Sixty-four women were included in this study and grouped according to the Bethesda System. Our results demonstrate the importance of the increase of DNA copy number of chromosomes 3 and X in the development and in progression from HSIL(high-grade squamous intracpithelial lesions) to CC(cervical cancer).
