Efficacy of tulathromycin injectable solution (Draxxin~(R)) for the treatment of naturally-occurring swine respiratory disease in North America and Europe

Antimicrobial agents continue to be the primary treatment for acute Swine Respiratory Disease (SRD). Macrolides have a history of successful use in treating SRD caused by gram-negative bacteria, including disease caused by P. multocida, A. pleuropneumoniae, H. parasuis, and by M. hyopneumoniae. Tulathromycin, the active ingredient of Draxxin~(R), is the first of a new, unique macrolide class, the triamilides, synthesized and developed by Pfizer Animal Health scientists specifically for livestock respiratory disease.
