From introducing new genes into a commercial farm, to moving swine genetics around the world, the use of semen remains one of the most practical and safe options. Possibly there are safer ways e.g. embryo transfer -which will also accelerate the rateof genetic transfer, as 100% of the genes are introduced at once instead of 50% - but these techniques are not yet widely commercially available.
