Developing web-based digitised collections of online interactive courseware: Teaching Information Technology via Distant/Continuing Education

The article outlines developments a project, sponsored by the Ministry of Information Technology, Govt. of India, being carried out at the Central Library, IIT Delhi. The project envisages construction of a portal site for courseware in IT and selective hosting of courseware available in public domain or those arranged against national licenses. The article describes various features & facilities, technical architecture and interfaces developed for site updation, administration and maintenance. The Online Directory provides important details including a brief description of courses, name of organization and contact person, duration, suggested level and prerequisites, cost, level of interactivity, infrastructure required, URL, etc. for more than 4,000 courseware in IT. The site mirrors more than 25 courses available in public domain.
