Mayday from an urban and rural perspective

Mayday is an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) market package supporting traveler safety and emergency services as defined by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration's National ITS Architecture and 30 related services. This articlediscusses the differences between urban and rural emergency services and the impact of automated Mayday on these services. It also reviews some workable and affordable approaches to Mayday, as well as an approach that was selected for US 93 in Arizona.
