We studied a Web-based Korean Children's Folk Song Retrieval System on the Internet. While lots of research has focused on the retrieval of western music on the web, no efforts have ever been done on Korean music retrieval. We have started to build a Korean folk song retrieval system on the web for educational purpose. The URL for this system is "http://www.taegu-e.ac.kr/～pwpark" in the name of MuSE(Music Search Engine). In developing MuSE, we aimed to devise an easy to use user interface for children, so three user interface facilities are devised - keyword based, scene based and notation based interface. The first two interfaces are designed for music retrieval purposes and the third interface is for simple music composer function. And, our system has functions to offer interaction between students and the system in virtual space. Educators can manage students' learning and can immediately be aware of who is attending and who is quitting the lesson.
