The results of an experimental study on liquid surface responses in a cylindrical container subject to the wind stream are presented. The experiments on the flow induced surface disintegration were conducted in a small low-turbulence wind tunnel. The time dependent amplitudes of the flow induced oscillation of liquid were measured using an optical displacement detector. The velocity distributions and turbulence intensities around the container were measured with a hotwire-anemometer. Disintegration phenomenon of the liqudi surface was observed using a strobo-scope. The velocities of liquid particles and the disintegration characteristics were revealed experimentaly.
