With the rapid development of urban construction and the steady increasing of population, there are more and more high-rise buildings built in Chinese cities. As a kind of vertical transportation device, the elevator is widely used in production field and people's daily lives. At present, the total number of elevators has exceeded 6 million in China, with dozens of elevator accidents each year. As for the safety protection measures in the elevator, the last protection barrier is the buffer, whose detection is vital in the process of detection. By investigating the current major detection schemes, the beginning of the paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages, the similarities and differences of those schemes. Then an elevator hydraulic buffer detection system based on intelligent image recognition is proposed. In this system, the movement process of the hydraulic buffer is acquired by the camera; the exchange of information in and out of the well is realized by wireless transmission technology; the reset time of the hydraulic buffer is obtained through image processing and recognition.
