PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elevator shock absorber capable of facilitating injection work of hydraulic fluid, and reducing a cost; an elevator shock absorber installing method, an elevator shock absorber maintenance method, and an elevator.;SOLUTION: In a plunger body 32 of a first plunger 30, an inner oil chamber 111 expanding its capacity according to the downward displacement of a second plunger 40 upper by one stage is provided. Between the plunger body 32 and a base cylinder body 22 lower by one stage, an outer oil chamber 112 contracting capacity according to the downward displacement of the first plunger 30 is provided. The whole of a car shock absorber 10 is contracted by moving hydraulic fluid between the inner oil chamber 111 and the outer oil chamber 112 through a communication hole 35 provided on the plunger body 32.
