The hydraulic turbine governing system is a complex control system which is time-varying, nonlinear and having non-minimum phase. The existing control technologies are insufficient to meet the requirements of the development of hydraulic turbine governing system. This paper proposed a fuzzy self-adaptive PID control technique based on the characteristics of hydraulic turbine governing system, and the applied the technique into the hydraulic turbine governing system. Through the establishment of mathematical model of hydraulic turbine governing system, a simulation study was conducted in different operating points under the frequency disturbance. The research results show that, compared with the traditional PID parameters control algorithms, the fuzzy self-adaptive PID control has more strong robustness and better control performance. It proves that this control technique is effective.
