Felder and Brent (2008) discuss issues such as active learning, use of technology and assessment methodologies, and point out to some of the common mistakes college teachers make. In this work, we take findings of a Felder and Brent and provide a critical analysis of a senior level industrial engineering class at North Carolina State University. We investigate each mistake laid out by Felder and Brent and argue how avoiding them resulted in a better educational outcome. We provide sample assessment tools such as class assignments and midterm questions, as well as active learning exercises, technological tools and student evaluations.
